Yanzike Rougui is a representative variety of Wuyi Rock Tea, known for its unique rock flavor, rich aroma and full tea soup. The tea soup is orange-yellow to orange-red and translucent, and has strong resistance to brewing (up to 10 brews or more). It is mellow and smooth at the entrance, and the sweetness comes back quickly and lasts for a long time. It is recommended to use mineral water, 100℃ boiling water to quickly brew the soup (3-5 seconds), and there is no need to extend the steeping time for the first 4 brews.
  • Detail

Origin

Wuyi Mountain is famous for its unique Danxia landform, with steep cliffs, deep valleys, loose and fertile soil, and slightly acidic soil, which provide unique conditions for the growth of tea trees. Wuyi Mountain has a mild climate, warm winters and cool summers, abundant rainfall, and clouds and fog all year round in the mountains, which is suitable for the growth of tea trees. Tea farmers cleverly use the terrain of rock hollows, stone crevices, and stone cracks, and carefully build stone banks to grow tea, thus forming a unique "potted" tea garden. In such an environment, Wuyi rock tea absorbs unique minerals, and finally presents an unforgettable tea soup taste, texture and soup flavor, with an indescribable "rock rhyme岩韵", known as the "rock bone flower fragrance岩骨花香".

Yanzike Rougui is one of the famous varieties of Wuyi rock tea and belongs to oolong tea. Yanzike is named after Yanzi Peak, one of the 99 rocks in Wuyi Mountain. It is located in the Zhengyan production area of Wuyi Mountain National Scenic Area, north of Jiuqu River and west of Sanyang Peak. Its rock formation is like a flying swallow, full of dynamics. Two huge rocks are inserted obliquely between the peaks, and their shapes resemble a pair of swallows resting on the green peaks and rocks, hence the name Yanzike. The environment here is quiet, closed and cool, which is an ideal place for rougui tea to grow.

In Yanzike Mountain Field, rotten rocks grow between the tea trees. The most distinctive feature is the thick red siliceous aluminum soil layer, which is conducive to the accumulation of soluble salts. Therefore, the red layer contains a certain amount of calcium oxide and a small amount of gypsum deposition. It is rich in iron content and minerals.

Appearance & Taste

The dried tea leaves of Yanzike Rougui are thick and uniform, tightly curled. The color is uniform, mainly gray-brown, and the aroma of Rougui is strong and fermented.

The tea soup is orange-yellow and bright, with a bright color; it is mellow and smooth, with a strong and spicy aroma, and a strong floral and fruity aroma.

After brewing, the tea leaves are clean and shiny, fresh and full, stretched and soft, with a faint aftertaste. It is a rare good tea, with the artistic conception and feeling of a swallow leaving a fragrance.

Brewing suggestions

Water temperature: 100℃ boiling water stimulates the substances contained in tea leaves.

‌Teaware‌: Porcelain covered bowl(Gaiwan).

‌Tea quantity‌: 8-10g/110ml.

‌Tea pouring‌: The first 3 brews are fast in and out (5-10 seconds). For subsequent brewings, the steeping time can be extended according to personal taste.

After each brewing, the tea soup needs to be poured out to avoid affecting the taste and aroma of subsequent infusions.
